About Us
The State Committee on Cults is a state body subordinate to the Council of Ministers.
Its main mission is to guarantee the constitutional right to freedom of belief and religion, through the regulatory and coordinating function in the relations between the state and religious communities/organizations.
Promoting dialogue between the above actors, at the central and local level, with the ultimate goal of being at the service of Albanian society, constitutes one of the pillars of institutional activity.
Control and monitoring mechanisms operating over the State Committee on Cults
In accordance with the Decision No. 459, dated 23.09.1999, “On the Establishment of the State Committee on Cults”, amended, the institution implements government policies related to religion. The Committee reports to the Office of the Prime Minister of Albania and, being a state body subordinate to the Council of Ministers, is subject to the legislation in force on public administration.
The State Committee on Cults, as a budgetary entity, cooperates with the Ministry responsible for Finance in the forecasts and expenditures of funds allocated for the realization of the objectives and is audited by the Directorate responsible for Auditing at the Prime Minister’s Office.
Services offered by the State Committee on Cults
The State Committee on Cults does not provide services to the general public, but addresses and resolves issues that may arise between religious communities/organizations and various state institutions, at the central and/or local level.
